Where and What is Deer Valley?
Deer Valley is a geographical area adjacent to and included within the municipality of Park City. It includes a variety of homes, condos, retail shopping, restaurants, and the ski resort of Deer Valley, the name of which was derived from the original name of the surrounding area. Deer Valley, including the ski resort, is logically divided into three areas:
- Lower Deer Valley includes an extended area of single family homes, condominiums, hotel rooms, businesses, restaurants, and access to the ski resort through a portal known as the Snow Park Lodge (which offers no lodging). This facility offers skier services, including a restaurant and ski school. From here there is a lift connecting Lower Deer Valley to Upper Deer Valley also known as “Silver Lake” or “Mid-Mountain”.
- Upper Deer Valley (a.k.a. ‘Silver Lake’ or ‘Mid Mountain’) is a collection of multi-storied condominiums, restaurants, and shops, surrounded by numerous homes, and condo developments. It also includes access to the ski resort through a portal known as the Silver Lake Lodge (which offers no lodging). From here there are lifts to the top of Bald Mountain and other areas of the ski resort
- Empire Village is the newest development of Deer Valley. It includes the Empire Lodge which offers access to the ski runs as well as skier services and a restaurant (but no lodging). The surrounding area of Empire Village and Red Cloud includes a variety of high end ski-in ski-out homes, high-rise condos, town-homes, and the 5-star Montage Hotel.

Deer Valley Ski School For Kids
The Deer Valley Ski School offers ski instruction from 9 AM to 3 PM for a package price of $177/day which includes a ski lesson, lift ticket, & lunch. They do not offer half day lessons for children under 15. There is an additional cost of ski rental of $36/day plus $12 for a helmet, both of which are required. The lift ticket if bought separately is $53, so that means they are pricing the lesson for a full day at $100 with about $20 for lunch. The only alternative is a private three hour lesson which costs over $400 and does not include a lift ticket. The total price is less than Park City Mountain, which prices the full day children’s program at $210. However, Park City Mountain’s full day rental package for skis, boots & poles is less – $15.00 for the rental package plus $10 for a helmet.
